Hot Hitters: Highlights

These are the 5 highlighted batters for this week’s article. These are highlighted for their exceptional performances, and are the most likely to go up. Keep in mind that I can not see in to the future, and that any player can go cold at any time, for any reason. These are educated picks based of statistical analysis.

Nathaniel Lowe : Texas Rangers

Current Overall : 83

Predicted Overall : 84-85

Recommended Buy Now Price : -1,650

Nathaniel Lowe has been in fantastic form for the Rangers and looks ready for back-to back upgrades. Lowe is slightly more inflated price wise, but could still be a fantastic investment. Currently putting up a slash line : .375 / .462 / .589 and an OPS over 1.000 Lowe looks like he could be going diamond, if SDS feels like it.

  • AB : 56
  • R : 6
  • H : 21
  • HR : 3
  • RBI : 5
  • AVG : .375
  • OBP : .462
  • SLG : .589
  • OPS : 1.051

Xander Bogaerts: Boston Red Sox

Current Overall : 80

Predicted Overall : 81-84

Recommended Buy Price : -500

Xander Bogaerts has been done dirty by SDS basically all year because of his generally low slugging percentage, but he’s changed that. Bogaerts has been in incredible form at the plate and looks like a great investment. Bogaerts is a card that should probably be sold in the hype if he goes over 900 stubs, as that is the 82 Quick Sell Value. Bogaerts’ consistency is a big bonus, as it makes him less likely to go cold anytime soon.

  • AB : 58
  • R : 13
  • H : 27
  • HR : 3
  • RBI : 16
  • AVG. : .466
  • OBP : .500
  • SLG : .707
  • OPS : 1.207

Carlos Correa: Minnesota Twins

Current Overall : 82

Predicted Overall : 83-85

Recommended Buy Price : – 1,000

Carlos Correa has to be one of the most overlooked investments of this current update period. Correa is a rather inconsistent hitter however, so he does hold a little bit more risk than others. However, at his current price and his current slash line of .344 / .403 / .590 and the amount of room on his hitting attributes, Correa could still prove to be a fantastic investment.

  • AB : 61
  • R : 9
  • H : 21
  • HR : 4
  • RBI : 12
  • AVG : .344
  • OBP : .403
  • SLG : .590
  • OPS : .993

Tommy Edman: St. Louis Cardinals

Current Overall : 83

Predicted Overall : 84-86

Recommended Buy Price : – 2,100

Tommy Edman has been in fantastic form, but is without a doubt the most risky investment in the upcoming period. Edman is putting up fantastic numbers, with a .389 / .411 / .759 slash line and often in a pinch-hit and rotational situation with Nolan Gorman, there isn’t much chance of his numbers going down a lot. However, if you compare the numbers of Edman and the numbers of Lowe, they are fairly similar. Proceed with caution, and sell in the hype if he goes over 3,000 stubs.

  • AB : 54
  • R : 8
  • H : 21
  • HR : 4
  • RBI : 11
  • AVG : .389
  • OBP : .411
  • SLG : .759
  • OPS : .1.170

Julio Rodriguez: Seattle Mariners

Current Overall : 85

Predicted Overall : 86-88

Recommended Buy Price : – 3,100

Potential Rookie Of The Year candidate Julio Rodriguez has been in nothing short of fantastic form, looking to put a stamp on his ROTY shot. Currently slashing .317 / .406 / .617 and putting up an even better slash line over the last 7 days, Rodriguez looks like a fantastic investment, and relatively risk-free. Keep in mind that the rookie inconsistency can still be present.

  • AB : 60
  • R : 12
  • H : 19
  • HR : 5
  • RBI : 7
  • AVG : .317
  • OBP : .406
  • SLG : .617
  • OPS : 1.023

Performing Pitchers

Now let’s have a look at pitchers who are due an upgrade. Keep in mind that pitchers only need one bad performance to possibly lose their upgrade, so the risk of investing in pitchers is definitely higher than investing in batters. At the time of writing, most pitchers will have one more appearance before the Roster Update, so keep an eye on them. After some feedback, the stats of last 15 days will be used for the pitchers, similar to the batters.

Dylan Cease: Chicago White Sox

Current Overall : 85

Predicted Overall : 86-87

Recommended Buy Price : -3,100

Another entry for Dylan Cease. After a game where he gave up 4, Cease went back to his old self and hasn’t given up a run in his last two starts, and almost threw a no-hitter against the Twins until Luis Arraez shattered that dream. Either way, Cease looks like a fantastic investment.

  • ERA : 0.00(!)
  • R : 0
  • H : 4
  • HR : 0
  • WHIP : 0.53
  • SO : 16
  • IP : 15.0

Alek Manoah: Toronto Blue Jays

Current Overall : 85

Predicted Overall : 86-87

Recommended Buy Price : -3,100

Another standout performer between the starting pitchers has to be Alek Manoah. Manoah has had a great season overall, and seems to keep improving. He pitched twice since the update and is pitching today, and has given up one run in those starts. Very dominant at the moment, and could prove to be a fantastic investment, just like Cease above.

  • ERA : 0.59
  • R : 1
  • H : 8
  • HR : 0
  • WHIP : 0.65
  • SO : 11
  • IP : 15.1

Brandon Woodruff: Milwaukee Brewers

Current Overall : 83

Predicted Overall : 84-85

Recommended Buy Price : – 1,200

Brandon Woodruff has been on the verge of a diamond upgrade and is close once again. If he gets the Spencer Strider treatment, he should be up to a diamond at least, but not everyone gets that treatment. Woodruff has been racking up K’s whilst keeping ER’s to a minimum. Woodruff is available at Quick Sell Value as well, which makes him a nice, risk-free investment to store some stubs.

  • ERA : 2.08
  • R : 3
  • H : 7
  • HR : 1
  • WHIP : 0.77
  • SO : 16
  • IP : 13.0

Julio Urias: Los Angeles Dodgers

Current Overall : 84

Predicted Overall : 85+

Recommended Buy Price : – 1,800

Julio Urias is what I’d like to call a ‘hype investment’. Urias is 84 rated, has decent enough numbers throughout his last two starts, but clearly holds some risk as well. He probably gives up too many walks, and not enough K’s to counter that. However, because he does have good ER statistics as an 84 rated card, most people will go off that, which could drive his price up. 100% sell Urias BEFORE the update!

  • ERA : 2.08
  • R : 3
  • H : 7
  • HR : 0
  • WHIP : 0.92
  • SO : 7
  • IP : 13.0

A.J. Minter : Atlanta Braves

Current Overall : 83

Predicted Overall : 84

Recommended Buy Price : -1,200

A.J. Minter is another slightly overlooked reliever, with good numbers. Minter hasn’t given up a run since August 28th and has been racking up K’s. Since September, Minter has struck out 7 batters through 3.2 innings, giving up 1 hit, and 1 walk. Those are some great numbers. Because of the way SDS upgrade relievers, I wouldn’t expect Minter to get the bump straight away, but getting him at Quick Sell Value could be a great move.

  • ERA : 0.00(!)
  • R : 0
  • H : 1
  • HR : 0
  • WHIP : 0.55
  • SO : 7
  • IP : 3.2
